Gym bag essentials

I try to work out regularly, it clears my mind and gets my energy pumping for the day’s tasks. There are some things that I must have when I work out – like good music!

I’ve emptied my gym bag to share the essentials every woman needs to add to your mix of gym gear!

First is Face wipes, I have tried many different ones and I love the grapefruit ones from Burt’s Bees.  I work out after dropping my son at pre-k then have to rush and pick him up so, sometimes, I don’t have the chance to shower immediately. Eeew, I know. They smell nice and truly leave my skin feeling fresh!

Next is face mist. I typically use this after washing my face. I used to balk at the whole idea of spraying my face with water but, then I tried one. When using a face mist make sure it has some type of humectant in it. Some natural humectants to look for on the label are, aloe, honey, hyaluronic acid and glycerin. If you can find a mist that has both a humectant and occlusive in it even better! Some occlusive to look for on the label are shea butter, lanolin, and jojoba oil.  Humectants draw moisture from the dermis or if you live in a humid area like south Florida from the air around you. Occlusive agents basically create a barrier on the skin and prevent water loss. These ingredients help to rehydrate, smooth and soften the skin. When you use your face mist make sure you only spray once and then blot off the rest. If you over spritz and don’t blot you will look greasy..not dewy. Trust me!

A pretty, small mirror and a sheer gloss is a must especially if you can’t shower right after your workout. I love the Clinique black honey because it is super moisturizing and adds a sheer touch of color.

Hand sanitizer is pretty much in every bag I have.  I love the Honest Co sanitizer because it smells like lemon and has aloe so I feel like it isn’t super drying. The other one I love is Dr. Bronner’s lavender spray!!

I usually spritz a light scent after working out. Coconut scent is my favorite it smells delicious!

Last is the workout gear, if you’ve known me for any period of time you know that I absolutely love jumping rope. Jumping rope burns 10 calories a minute, you can literally do it anywhere and is pretty cheap on the gym equipment list. I had a jump rope that I bought from Walmart and it lasted years. It finally broke so, I upgraded to the one I have now and I love it!

The Phantom resistance bands are awesome! They are pretty heavy duty and don’t stretch out too quickly. I love them, they help you feel the burn!! A yoga mat is essential for me since I work out outdoors. Mine is pretty plain but, I have seen some pretty ones at Marshalls. And finally, a hand towel to wipe off any sweat!!

Obviously water is a must ! I usually drink a fruit infused water my favorite combo is cucumber and lemon!!
